That’s not how blogging works, though.
To write blog posts that convert, the writer (and blogger) needs to be a good communicator as well as an indirect salesperson.
These qualities are, in fact, more important than being a good writer.
Check out this article on how to write blog posts that actually convert in 7 easy-to-follow steps. Once you’ve learned these steps, they will become a natural part of your future writing process.

Write blog posts that ACTUALLY convert in 7 easy-to-follow steps
1. Set an objective purpose if want to write blog posts that convert
Whether your goals are to acquire leads such as new subscribers to your mailing list, direct sales of your products or services, or potential customers who click on your affiliate links, you will need to have a plan in place.
To write blog posts that convert, you have to ask yourself first:
What do I want to sell or what action do I want to generate with this blog post?
If you intend to sell something, for example, focus on that. But first, find out how what you intend to sell can be beneficial to your audience.
For example, let’s say you are affiliated with a company that sells suitcases. You could write an article giving tips on “how to organize your suitcase”, so you can use your affiliate links to recommend which suitcases are best for short or long-distance trips, or for destinations where it’s snowing, etc.
The important thing is to stay focused and purposeful. Don’t be disappointed that your blog post on “how to organize your suitcase for short trips” didn’t generate a lot of subscribers to your mailing list if you didn’t use any CTA (Call To Action) for it.
You intended to make sales through your affiliate links, so don’t mix things up.
For each blog post you write, its own purpose (s).
2. Don’t be a sellout
Don’t try to sell all your products/services at once. Be specific and strategic.
Blogging is a job, as I always say. So, if you’re a blogger, you expect to be paid. I get that.
The problem is that to make money, many new bloggers, especially those who work exclusively with affiliate marketing, make the mistake of turning their blog posts into catalogs.
And that’s not how you make money blogging.
People don’t turn to Google because they’re looking for product catalogs. They turn to Google because they need solutions to their problems or because they want to learn something.
When you offer a solution to these problems or teach what they want to learn, you grab their attention. And that’s how you get a chance to recommend a few products or services that might be of interest to them.
That is the complete opposite of posting an “article” which, in reality, is just a list of 30 items sold on Amazon, with generic descriptions and photos with a white background that doesn’t draw anyone’s attention.
Anyone can access such a list, well, on Amazon’s own website. 🤷🏻♀️
Also, how do you intend to earn your audience’s trust so that they will decide to buy from you if you’re not helping them at all (and basically just pushing junk to them)?
So, don’t be a sellout.
Content quality first, sales later. Few recommendations within a helpful article convert more than 30 recommendations without any content. Keep that in mind.
Also, Google might as well mark websites that have so many affiliate links on a single page as spam. So here’s one more good reason not to do that.
3. To write blog posts that convert, go straight to the point
If you are a good communicator and have a lot to say on any topic, I advise you to contain your words a little.
Your blog post becomes dull when you ramble on too much and don’t get straight to the point.
Be concise and objective with your words. If your reader doesn’t find the answer they are looking for quickly, they will leave your website to go look for the answer elsewhere.
Engaging writing will keep your audience with you until the end of the article.
Also, if you realize that you have written more than necessary, reread your article carefully to check if there’s more than one issue actually being discussed.
Some very long articles will do better being turned into two or three shorter articles, where the topics are more concentratedly distributed.
4. Optimize your blog posts for SEO
For sure you need to consider SEO to write blog posts that convert.
The purpose of an SEO-optimized article is to make your blog posts appear organically on Google.
Quality is the most important factor when creating content for SEO, but you also need to meet other basic requirements to get the best results.
I.e. choosing keywords with high ranking potential, using LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords (the synonyms and related phrases of the main keywords), performing tag optimization (Meta Title tag, Meta Description tag, Headings Tag), performing the internal and external linking, using images, etc.
And don’t forget to optimize your website structure for SEO, too.
5. Genuinely helpful blog posts convert better
Your audience will respond to quality content that helps them.
So make sure you provide the answers you’ve originally promised in your blog posts. Don’t be misleading. Sometimes you choose to write about a subject you are unfamiliar with. If you are unwilling to do in-depth research on the subject, change it.
Don’t proceed if you don’t have anything genuinely helpful to say just because the topic has a high search volume keyword.
When your audience doesn’t find the help they’re looking for, they leave your site to search for an answer elsewhere, which will increase your website bounce rate.
6. Mechanically written blog posts don’t convert well
Cold, mechanical articles become tiresome and difficult to read. Your audience wants to find answers quickly. And they prefer pleasant, fluid, and easy-to-read blog posts.
Write using the same tone you use to talk to someone face-to-face. Avoid robot-like articles and too long and didactic walls of text. Likewise, definitely use Headings to divide your texts into subtitles.
Remember that to write blog articles that convert, the first step is to publish posts that will gain an audience. That is, any attitude that makes the audience leave your site (and look for other sites) means that you will not get the conversions you are looking for.
You can be personal in your blog posts, but not too much
To write blog posts that convert, you need to be close enough to your audience but keep your focus and professionalism nonetheless.
Every time you break the flow of your article to write 3 paragraphs of a personal story, ask yourself how beneficial this story is to your audience. Ask yourself how much it is, in fact, related to the topic of your blog post as well.
Sometimes, your personal story is a good example or proof of what you are talking about.
Not to mention it makes your article more humane, allowing the reader, who may be in a similar situation to which you were previously, to see more clearly their own possibilities of success.
However, it’s important not to make the article all about you, even if the article is about you. I.e. “how I managed to renovate my house spending less than x”, the focus should be less on the “I” and more on the “renovating house spending less than x”, because that’s the information that the audience is looking for. After all, they only started reading your article because they also want to renovate their home for less than x.
Always remember that your blog is your job — not your personal journal or diary
As a blogger, the sooner you understand that your audience is less interested in you than they are in solving their own problems, the better.
7. Use a Call To Action (CTA) at a specific time to increase blog post conversion
A call to action is exactly what the name says. CTA is very common on websites, emails, and ads, as it directs the audience to perform a specific action. This is usually clicking on a link or button, with an accent color, with imperative phrases like “click not to miss it” or “get yours here”.
The CTA plays a decisive role in any campaign, as it encourages your prospects to take action and move forward in the purchase act.
When you write blog posts that actually convert, you take CTA into account. Always.
On blogs, tactics often used involve providing a free manual or course in exchange for the user providing their email address or directing the user to a product or service link that may be of interest to them.
Put these 7 steps into practice when you write so your blog posts will finally convert!
Never write articles for your blog again without considering these 7 steps.
Blogging is about quality, not quantity. Writing blog posts randomly, just thinking about getting a high number of articles posted, will not generate the leads you want and need to make your blog generate a full-time income.
Blog posts that convert are always written with the purpose of conversion in mind, after all, there is no point in writing long articles if they are not able to captivate your audience and direct them to the actions you need them to take.
